Archaeology in the World of Warcraft rewards players with experience for scouting artifact fragments and with unique armor, weapons, pets, mounts, and vanity items for completing research projects. As your character gains skill levels in Archaeology it allows you to find and complete more powerful artifacts from fragments collected in all of Azeroth and the Outlands.
